West Hartford residents and business owners Amanda Aronson and Bill MacDonald have been named chair and vice chair of the Hartford Public Giving Foundation’s Catalyst Endowment Steering Committee.

The Hartford Public Giving Foundation’s Catalyst Endowment Fund is pleased to announce new leadership for its steering committee. Former Vice Chair Amanda Aronson will be elected Chair and Bill MacDonald will become Vice Chair.
Aronson, a West Hartford resident, is the founder and president of StoryB, where he supports individuals as a high-impact executive leadership and performance coach and organizations as a strategic operations consultant. She has worked in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to support the health of societies in the areas of education, social services, philanthropy, and emergency management. Aronson is also an active member of the community, serving as a board ambassador for the Hartford Foundation, a board member for Jewish Family Services, and a member of the Board of Directors Search Committee for the Greater Hertford Montessori School.
McDonald, a West Hartford resident, is a founding partner and senior wealth management advisor at Tidewater Wealth Management, where he provides client-focused financial planning and works with individuals and organizations to create value for each client. The Hartford Foundation’s Catalyst Endowment, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, is the organization’s oldest and largest giving circle. This fund provides an opportunity to learn about critical issues facing our region, meet new people who share our commitment to the community, and determine grants to address those issues. Since 1993, when a small group of volunteers came together to create the foundation, Catalyst has worked together to positively impact Greater Hartford. The foundation’s endowment has grown to nearly $2 million, and Giving Circle has awarded her 68 grants totaling $1.1 million to nonprofit organizations in Greater Hartford. Each year, Catalyst members select a learning topic, participate in two enrichment educational sessions, and, at a third meeting, select a study topic for eligible nonprofit organizations or Award grants for initiatives.
This year, Catalyst members aim to empower young people. Their learning theme is empowering future leaders and community builders through youth sports. The first learning session will be held at Hartford International University in Hartford on Tuesday, March 26th at 5:30 p.m.
