From December 26th to 30th, this highly anticipated five-day event will see the world’s best chess players compete for the prestigious title of Rapid and Blitz World Champion in both the Open and Women’s divisions.
format
Rapid and Blitz are both played under the Swiss system
- Open Rapid consists of 13 rounds and Blitz consists of 21 rounds.
- Women’s Rapid consists of 11 rounds and Blitz consists of 17 rounds.
time control
- Rapid: Starting from move 1, increments of 15 minutes + 10 seconds per move.
- Blitz: Starting from move 1, increase by 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move.
