World junior champion, Czech national record holder Mirosław Knedla has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Indiana University starting in the fall of 2024.
Knedra is a regular international competitor for his native Czech Republic. She won gold in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 100m backstroke at the 2023 World Junior Swimming Championships.

She recently competed in the European Short Channel Swimming Championships, where she placed 6th in the 50 back (23.21), 8th in the 100 back (50.57), and 7th in the 100 IM (52.49).

Knedra’s addition is another big international coup for the Hoosiers, and he resembles the kind of “versatile speed” swimmer who took Indiana University fourth at last year’s NCAA Championships.

The backstroke group is currently a strength for the Hoosiers, but with Barnes graduating this year and most of the remaining backstrokers being juniors (no fifth-years) or seniors, the team is in great need of a reload with this class. It is said that 2024 – and the addition of Knedla provides the necessary response.

The distance between the groups as a whole is very large.
