The Yampa River Fund has approximately $210,000 awarded to successful applicants in 2024, and applications for the grants will be accepted starting Monday.
The Yampa River Fund was established in 2019 through a partnership of 21 public, private and nonprofit organizations, according to a news release. By investing in conservation and restoration efforts, the Fund aims to foster efforts to protect the water supply, aquatic habitat, and multi-benefit opportunities provided by the Yampa River.
Projects with priority funding will strengthen water security. Support healthy, flowing rivers and enhance critical low flows by leasing water from reservoirs. and maintain or improve river function through an integrated approach to riparian or in-channel habitat restoration.
The Yampa River Fund Steering Committee is expected to make a funding decision by mid-May. The deadline for submitting applications is April 1st.
Eligible applicants include state and local governments, public districts and irrigation utilities, mutual ditch companies, homeowners associations and nonprofit organizations. Private landowners are encouraged to partner with one of these organizations to submit a grant application.
