GRANBY, Mo. — Granby city officials are reflecting on the economic growth the town has seen over the past year.
GROWTH IN GRANBY – Mayor Jamie Conway says there has been a lot of growth in the past 365 days – the town has seen several new local businesses launch, including a new tea shop, pizza place and dough shop .
“Being in a small town, one of the important things is to be unique. You bring people to you, and they’re doing that. They bring great shoppers to me. They are bringing us here. our It’s a city,” Granby Mayor Jamie Conway said.
Thanks to recent decisions by the Granby City Council, Mayor Conway says there may be more decisions to come.
“At the last council meeting, council members announced a $35,000 small business loan in 2024 to help existing businesses scale up or start new businesses. “We have resolved to do so,” Conway said.
The town’s first Casey’s Convenience Store is currently under construction along Highway 60 and is expected to be completed and open for business by early March.
City officials are also recruiting “grant volunteers” across town to see if locals can help find more economic opportunities for growth.
“This is going to be a year of growth. You’re going to see businesses coming to town. You’re going to see houses being built. In fact, I’ve seen about seven houses built in the last eight months or so. We’ve seen houses being built. So we want to grow it, and the big thing is going to be our park. There’s going to be a big difference in our park. You’ll see,” Conway said.
“Our main focus is typically Dick Smith Park, which is further down the valley, where we’ll do some updates and improvements and hopefully work on Main Street as well.” said Wendy Elder, volunteer grant manager.
Mayor Conway said the first of many changes will take place later this month when City Hall moves into a new building on Main Street.
